Firecrest Mountain Biking’s Young Rider Development Programme (Known as DeVo) runs Mountain Bike Skills Courses for riders from 8 years to 18 years of age. DeVo focusses on having fun and developing the Mountain Bike Skills Essentials to get the most from your Mountain Bike.
With the closure of the Bike Park at Rushmere Saturday morning DeVo will be taking to the road to start 2026!
No don’t worry we haven’t given up on the dirt! To keep DeVo running and provide the level of skills training we pride ourselves on I’ve lined up 3 great venues to train at to get 2026 of to a great start!
For the next DeVo on Tour course we head to The Summit in Swinley Forest on Saturday 14th February from 10am – 1pm. This is a purpose built mountain bike skills training zone and will be a great venue for DeVo and honing a range of skills on some amazing trails and features.
To make booking even easier there are links to book through the British Cycling Website (£1 booking fee) and Eventbrite (£1.79 booking fee). All courses are booked on a first come first served basis.
We have also announced our February Half Term Holiday Course Programme. With two DeVo Level1 Courses and two DeVo Evo/Level2 Courses riding at Whippy Trails and Northampton Bike Park on Tuesday and Thursday respectively. Find out more an book your place below.
The DeVo programme works on Five Levels, DeVo Level1 is the Introduction to Mountain Biking for riders aged from 8 years to 12 years, DeVo Evo is the progression for those riders looking to take their skills a bit further.
DeVo2 for riders from 11 years to 16 years of age is a great introduction to mountain biking and it enables riders to progress their skills and move onto specialising in the specific disciplines of Mountain Biking.

The DeVo Level 1 Courses are for beginner to intermediate level Mountain Bikers aged from 8 years to 12 years old looking to develop their Mountain Bike Skills. These courses are a great opportunity to meet likeminded young riders and progress your riding and build your confidence and get out and experience on the trails.

DeVo Evo will be training with DeVo Level2 February Half Term.

The DeVo Evo Course is for young riders that aren’t old enough or ready to ride at Level 2 but are looking to progress their skills to more challenging terrain at Rushmere Park.
Note: This Courses is for those who have attended 4 or more Leve l1 DeVo Courses or have been advised by Ian to book on this course and are looking to progress their skills.

Firecrest’s DeVo Level 2 Programme is a progressive training course designed to further develop the skills of young mountain bikers who have mastered the basics and are ready to advance to the next level. This programme is tailored to enhance technical abilities, introduce more challenging riding techniques, and build riders confidence and skills across a range of features and terrain.

Girls DeVo provides mountain bike skills training for girls aged from 8 through to 16. For those just starting, looking to build their skills and those looking to develop their skills. These courses run monthly on a Sunday morning delivered by the Firecrest MTB Coaching Team.
DeVo is run by Firecrest Mountain Biking at Rushmere Country Park. DeVo Courses are run year round at the weekends and during the School Holiday’s.
The courses usually take place on a Tuesday for DeVo Level1 (AM) and DeVo Evo (PM) with DeVo Level2 Courses all day on Thursday’s in the Holidays. The Saturday morning courses run from 9.30am – 12.30pm (3hrs) and alternate Saturdays from September to July. Girls DeVo take place on one Sunday morning a month running from 9.30am – 12.30pm (3hrs)
The DeVo Courses range is cost from £14.00* per participant for the DeVo1 Holiday Courses through to £30.00* per participant for the all day DeVo2 Holiday Courses.
All the training is given under the watchful eye of Firecrest MTB’s highly experienced staff providing expert tuition. If you’re looking to develop your Mountain Bike Skills these are the courses for you!
