The Cycle Hut, Station Approach, Leighton Buzzard, Beds
Monday 21st, Tuesday 22nd, Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th February 2011.
Firecrest Mountain Bike Skills Training will be back inside the Cycle Hut in Leighton Buzzard in Half Term this February. Building on the success of the Christmas Holiday sessions these courses will be guaranteed to be dry as they utilise the warehouse space available and the Shoretrax portable mountain bike trail inside the Cycle Hut in Leighton Buzzard directly opposite Leighton Buzzard Station.
Using Shoretrax portable mountain bike trail system the hut will be transformed. The modular timber trail will be used to build a series of ‘skills stations’ which will be used by Fire crests instructors to develop skills and give a taster of the Go Mountain Bike Mountain Bike Proficiency Scheme.
Go Mountain Bike or Go MTB for short, is a new mountain bike proficiency scheme developed by Cycling Scotland and the UK’s leading Mountain Bike Training Organisations and focuses on four key areas. These are Riding Skills Level 1-5, Sharing the Outdoors Levels 1-5, First Aid Levels 2-5 and Being Independent & Self-supporting Levels 1-5.
The Half Term courses will focus on the Riding Skills from level 1 to 3 so it’s ideal for riders of all abilities aged from 8-16. Attendees must be able to ride unaided and bring their own bike and helmet and a packed lunch.
Firecrest Mountain Biking Skills Instructor Dave Martin said “Everyone had a great time and we had some great feedback from our Christmas course and we are really looking forward to running the half term program. Being inside guarantees the weather and the combination of the Shoretrax and Go MTB is great for building skills and confidence for rider of all abilities”.
The courses cost £20 per day and are running on the following days over the Half Term Holidays:
